Paterson mayor’s private email hacked, officials say

andre-sayegh

If you have received an email from mayor Andre Sayegh to “discreetly” purchase some gift cards, do not do it.

Sayegh’s private email was compromised, according to multiple city officials. His email account sent messages last week to other officials asking them to purchase $500 worth of Apple gift cards.

“The situation was resolved by our IT department,” said Sayegh when asked about the possible hack of his email.

Sayegh did not say when his email was hacked or how. He did not say whether the compromise led to theft of content from his email.

I became aware of the rumor after hearing it. The Purchasing Department's inability to adopt a spending budget was viewed as shameful and ridiculous. As a result, it was stated that the budget for water cups for staff had been refused, and they would have to bring their own.

Water cups were ordered by one of the departments on their ordering list and purchasing department. Denied their request, deeming it unnecessary for the office. So it was advised that staff bring their own cups/mugs to drink the water from the dispenser. In summary, they do not have the funds to provide simple water cups to staff because it is not a priority or important on the list.
