A man from Garfield was arrested in Paterson on Saturday in alleged possession of a gun and drugs, according to public safety director Jerry Speziale.
Jamere Dixon, 23, has been charged with weapons offenses, drug offenses, and resisting arrest.
Dixon was on North Main and Stout streets at around 9:30 p.m. acting in a suspicious manner, police said.
Detectives got out of their vehicles to investigate. Dixon was found in possession of Promethazine bottle and a loaded Smith and Wesson .40 caliber semi-automatic pistol.
Dixon was taken to headquarters for processing. His weapon was sent for analysis. And he is being held at the Passaic County Jail pending a court hearing.
