The police arrested a man on gun possession charges on Franklin Street, according to public safety director Jerry Speziale.

Kadir Wright, 20, of Paterson, was a passenger in a stolen vehicle that was on Franklin Street. He was charged with weapons offenses and car theft charges.

Wright was inside a Nissan Maxima on Friday, April 15 at 6:55 p.m. Police observed the vehicle with two occupants inside.

Police followed behind the vehicle. As they turned onto Franklin Street they found both front doors of the vehicle were open and the car rolling down the roadway. Both occupants had fled, police said.

Police found the passenger, Wright, but could not locate the driver. They recovered a Taurus 9mm handgun with a high-capacity magazine from the vehicle.
