The police arrested two minors and an adult in separate gun recovery incidents, seizing three guns, according to public safety director Jerry Speziale.

Police arrested Jazzmeirr Mims, 24, of Paterson; a 17-year-old boy of Paterson; and another 17-year-old boy of Paterson, on gun charges.

On Wednesday, police arrested a 17-year-old boy on North York and Sassafras streets at around 6:30 p.m. He had a gun on his waistband, police said.

Detectives observed the extended magazine of a weapon and the suspect fled on Highland Street towards Sparrow Street. As the boy fled, he discarded the Taurus 9mm semi-automatic handgun and a high-capacity magazine.

Detectives chased him to a backyard on North York Street and put him in handcuffs. He was charged with weapons offenses.

On Friday, Mims was arrested on North 6th and Clinton streets at around 10:15 p.m. He had a gun in the pocket of a “outer garment pocket,” police said. He was quickly arrested without an incident.

Mims allegedly had a Baretta .380 caliber semi-automatic handgun that was reported stolen out of North Carolina. He also had 20 glassines of heroin, police said. He was charged with weapons offenses, possession of stolen property, and drug offenses.

On Saturday, police arrested the second 17-year-old boy. He was on 11th Avenue and East 22nd Street at around 10:25 p.m.

Police said he was among a group of people on 10th Avenue and East 24th Street. As the group dispersed, he was observed walking between two vehicles and discarding a weapon. He then fled on foot towards East 24th Street.

Detectives chased him and arrested him on East 24th Street. He allegedly discarded a SCCY 9mm semi-automatic handgun. He was charged with weapons offenses.
