A 15-year-old boy from Paterson has been arrested and charged in connection with a fatal stabbing that took place outside Eastside High School.
According to authorities, the boy is facing charges of juvenile delinquency that would equate to first-degree murder, second-degree aggravated assault, fourth-degree unlawful possession of a weapon, and second-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose if tried as an adult.
Police allege that the boy was responsible for the stabbing, which occurred around 3 p.m. on Friday outside 147 Park Avenue. Two boys, aged 14 and 16, were stabbed in the incident. Both victims were taken to Saint Joseph’s University Medical Center, where the 14-year-old was later pronounced dead. The 16-year-old was treated for his injuries and released.
The suspect was taken into custody on Tuesday afternoon and is currently being detained pending court proceedings.
