Paterson man arrested in East Main Street killing

Calvin-King

A 47-year-old Paterson man was charged in connection with the homicide of a 34-year-old man that occurred over the weekend.

Calvin King was charged with second-degree certain persons not to possess a weapon and third-degree unlawful possession of a shotgun. He was charged on Saturday, the day the incident took place.

On Saturday at approximately 1:14 a.m., patrol officers were flagged down in the area of East Main Street and Hillman Street on a report of a man down. Officers found the victim, Kyheem Clark, with a gunshot wound to the chest. The victim was transported to St. Joseph’s University Medical Center where he was pronounced deceased.

The subsequent investigation determined that an altercation occurred between the victim and King at King’s place of business during which King shot the victim.

King is currently in custody at the Bergen County Jail. The Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office has filed a motion for pre-trial detention.

King could face 15 years in prison if convicted on the charges.
