A man was arrested Tuesday in connection with a shooting investigation that took place earlier in the day, authorities said.
Robert Carroll, 59, of Paterson, was charged with attempted murder, unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.
The shooting happened around 9 a.m. in the area of Madison Avenue and 10th Avenue. Carroll and a school security guard were involved in a verbal altercation, and gunfire was exchanged. No one was injured, authorities said.
Carroll was apprehended by police around 12:37 p.m. in the intersection of 12th Avenue and Rosa Park Boulevard. He is being held in the Passaic County Jail pending a detention hearing.
Carroll could face decades in prison if convicted on the charges.
