Two people are dead and five wounded in separate Paterson shootings.

In the first incident, police said two men — 19 and 20 years old of Paterson — were struck by gunfire on Essex and Madison streets at around 11:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

In the second incident, police said five people were shot on Jersey and Oliver streets at around 2:40 a.m. on Wednesday.

Two of the victims — a 17-year-old boy and 27-year-old man, both of Paterson — died from their injuries.

Three victims are receiving treatment. Two 19-year-olds and a 24-year-old, all of Paterson, sustained non-fatal gunshot wounds.
