A Morris County man has been arrested and charged with sexually abusing a child inside a vehicle in Paterson, according to the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office.

Luis Campos, 25, of Lincoln Park, has been charged with kidnapping, two counts of aggravated sexual assault, two counts of sexual assault, and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child.

The case originated on January 7, 2023, when the Elmwood Park Police Department referred a sexual assault investigation involving a thirteen-year-old victim to the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit. Subsequently, detectives from the Prosecutor’s Office conducted interviews with the victim and multiple witnesses while also gathering physical evidence.

According to the victim’s account, the alleged sexual abuse occurred on January 7, inside Campos’ vehicle in Paterson.

Campos is being held in jail pending a resolution of the charges against him. A judge ordered his detention on Wednesday. He could face a lengthy prison sentence if convicted.
