The police responded to two separate shooting incidents in the early hours of New Year’s Day, resulting in non-fatal injuries to a male and a female victim.
The first incident occurred at approximately 4:56 a.m. Officers were dispatched to St. Joseph’s University Medical Center in Paterson to meet with a 25-year-old female victim from Prospect Park. The woman had sustained a non-fatal gunshot wound. Authorities identified a potential crime scene in the vicinity of Market Street and East 33rd Street in Paterson.
Hours later, at around 7:13 a.m., the police received reports of shots fired in the area of Governor and East 18th Streets. Upon arrival, officers located another potential crime scene. Shortly thereafter, police were informed that a 24-year-old male resident of Paterson sought treatment for non-fatal gunshot wounds at St. Joseph’s University Medical Center.
