A developing snow storm is expected to blanket the region with snow beginning on Saturday afternoon.

Paterson is expected to receive four inches of snow, according to the National Weather Service, which issued a winter weather advisory from 4 p.m. this afternoon until 11 a.m. Sunday.

The advisory warns of wet snow with expected total snow accumulations of up to 4 inches. Additionally, wind gusts could reach as high as 35 mph. These conditions are likely to lead to slippery road conditions across Paterson.

Officials in Paterson are urging residents to refrain from driving, allowing public works vehicles to efficiently salt and clear the roads. They also request that residents avoid using chairs and cones to reserve parking spaces on the streets. Additionally, it’s important to not park at corners, as this can prevent trucks from accessing, particularly on narrow streets, they said.

Residents are advised to exercise caution, especially while traveling. Reduced visibility and slippery roads may pose challenges for drivers in the area.
