2 women hurt in Paterson shooting on Lewis Street

Two women were injured in a shooting incident in Paterson on Sunday afternoon. The victims, both residents of Paterson, sought medical treatment for non-fatal gunshot wounds.

At around 4:19 p.m., police were dispatched to St. Joseph’s University Medical Center following a report of a 31-year-old woman seeking treatment for a gunshot wound. Initial investigations suggest the victim was shot while seated inside a motor vehicle at the intersection of Lewis Street and 20th Avenue.

During a search of the vicinity, police discovered a second victim, a 33-year-old woman, near 21st Avenue and Straight Street. She too was transported to St. Joseph’s University Medical Center for treatment of a gunshot wound.

The identities of the victims have not been disclosed as the investigation continues. Authorities are urging anyone with information about the incident to call the Paterson Police Shooting Investigation Unit at 973-321-1342.
