On Sunday, June 2, police responded to three separate incidents of violence in the city, resulting in multiple injuries and one fatality.
At approximately 4:56 p.m., police were dispatched to the area of Main Street and Chadwick Street following reports of an assault. The victim was taken to St. Joseph’s University Medical Center for treatment. While at the hospital, police were informed that a 45-year-old man and a 28-year-old man, both residents of Paterson, had arrived with non-fatal gunshot wounds from an incident that occurred at the same location as the assault. Police identified a potential crime scene in the area.
Later, at around 7:50 p.m., police responded to reports of a shooting near Butler Street and Sassafras Street. On arrival, officers located a potential crime scene. They were subsequently informed that a 21-year-old man from Paterson had been transported to St. Joseph’s University Medical Center with a non-fatal gunshot wound.
At approximately 8:57 p.m., officers were dispatched to the area of Chadwick Street and Weiss Street in response to another shooting. While en route, they learned that Twahee Howard, a 44-year-old man from Paterson, had arrived at St. Joseph’s University Medical Center with multiple gunshot wounds. Howard was later pronounced dead.
Police are investigating all three incidents. Anyone with information is urged to contact the police.
