A 16-year-old was charged in connection with a shooting that occurred on Friday at Passaic County Technical Institute in Wayne, according to the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office.

The juvenile, whose name has not been released due to their age, was charged with acts of juvenile delinquency that would constitute first-degree attempted murder, second-degree unlawful possession of a weapon, and second-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose if the charges were applied to an adult.

The incident took place around 7:33 p.m. after a football game at the school. Members of the Passaic County Sheriff’s Office were on the scene when the shooting occurred. Police found a 15-year-old and a 16-year-old suffering from non-fatal gunshot wounds. Both victims were taken to St. Joseph’s University Medical Center in Paterson for treatment.

Investigators identified the 16-year-old suspect as being responsible for the shooting after locating a potential crime scene in the area. The investigation is ongoing.
