The Passaic Valley Water Commission announced on Friday evening that the boil water advisory issued for South Paterson and parts of Clifton has been lifted.

After extensive water quality testing and collaboration with the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) and local health officials, it has been confirmed that customers in South Paterson and parts of Clifton can resume normal water use.

Affected customers are strongly encouraged to take the following measures:

  • Run all cold faucets in homes for about three minutes.
  • Empty and clean automatic ice makers and water chillers.
  • Drain and refill hot water heaters if the temperature is set below 113 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Run service connections with a water softener or cartridge filter through a regeneration cycle or other manufacturer-recommended procedures.
