City officials approved the purchase of three crew cab trucks which come equipped with snow plows for the public works department for $194,208, according to municipal records.

The three 2016 Ford F-450 equipped with 9.0’ snow plows are being purchased from Cherry Hill-based Winner Ford, according to the city.

Council members approved the purchase on January 19th, 2016. The council also awarded a contract to buy four 2016 Ford F-350 equipped with 7’ snow plows from the same dealership for $128,856.

The seven trucks combined are worth $323,064.

After a recent snow fall city residents complained many of their streets were unplowed two days after the storm. Council members noted the city did not have good enough equipment to handle the historic snow storm.

The trucks purchase was approved without any objections from council members. Councilman at-large Alex Mendez wanted the city to purchase trucks that used natural gas. He did not oppose the purchase.
