Paterson man charged with aggravated assault for pointing a gun at man

A city man has been arrested and charged with aggravated assault for an incident that took place on Godwin Avenue, according to the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office.

Roshane James, 21-year-old, has been charged with fourth-degree aggravated assault, possession of a weapon in violation of a regulatory provision, possession of a defaced firearm, and second-degree possession of a handgun for an unlawful purpose.

James allegedly pointed a gun at a 30-year-old man in the area of Godwin Avenue and Rosa Park Boulevard on January 31, 2021.

Previously, James was charged with attempted murder and weapons offenses for his role in the alleged shooting of a 31-year-old man on 9th Avenue. He was arrested on February 19 in an unrelated domestic violence incident. He was arrested again on Wednesday for the aggravated assault and weapons charges.

James is being held at the Passaic County Jail pending a hearing.
