Five people wounded in Paterson shooting, authorities say

Five people were wounded in a shooting on 12th Avenue early Sunday evening, according to the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office.

Four city men – 25, 29, 28, and 24 — and a juvenile – 17 — were wounded when gunfire erupted on 12th Avenue and Carroll Street at around 6:24 p.m.

Police located three victims, the 25-year-old, 17-year-old, and the 29-year-old, in the area of Carroll and Harrison streets. Police rushed them to Saint Joseph’s University Medical Center for treatment.

A short time later, police were advised the 28-year-old and the 24-year-old men arrived at the hospital seeking treatment for gunshot injuries.

The 24-year-old is in critical condition. The rest of the victims are in stable condition, authorities said.

The investigation remains active and ongoing, authorities said. Anyone with information is asked to call the Paterson Police Ceasefire Unit at 973-321-1342.

I believe it’s 12th av and 23rd that anyone who wants to get shot stands on. Next time you ride around there just look for yourself and you will see a bunch of people standing there waiting for it.

True. The business district moved from 10th Ave. and Broadway and concentrated in that area.

Like Rosa Parks and Godwin….they should just put up signs saying "if you want to die, stand here"

If there were no market/demand for them, they couldn't sell them. It will not stop until people learn to overcome baser human instincts, learn self control, self discipline, and responsibility, and find a purpose greater than themselves to serve- be it family, friends, or a higher power. Starts in the family, reinforced supported, and facilitated by education, and tempered by laws justly applied. Over-simplified, yes, but the responsibility lies within each individual for his own behavior.

I can drink to that ! Cheers !

Lucky that these so called gangsters can aim a gun. If it was an ex military there would be 5 dead instead of 5 wounded
