A city teen was arrested allegedly in possession of a handgun on North Main Street early Tuesday evening, according to public safety director Jerry Speziale.

The boy, 14-year-old, was outside of 111 North Main Street at around 7:30 p.m. He was with a group of 12 individuals blocking the entrance of a liquor store, playing music, and drinking in public.

Detectives exited their vehicles to issue summonses. The boy allegedly tried to hide a weapon in his waist area. He had a HighPoint 9mm semi-automatic handgun. He was quickly arrested and the gun seized.

A second boy, 15-year-old, of Paterson, fled. He was later arrested in a backyard on Watson Street.

The 14-year-old was charged with weapons offenses.

Do protestors care about this. Does the media care about this. Does the public care.about this? Put blame on these low life individuals, not on the police that have to deal with this scum.

Good thing they were on the street. If they were in school and found with a hand gun, nothing would happen, they'd take the gun away and they would get 1 day In school suspension if that. Then they would retaliate against the teacher for reporting it and making them look bad

NOTHING IS GOING TO HAPPEN EITHER WAY. THEY WILL GET A BRACELET AND IF THEY STAY OUT OF TROUBLE FOR A CERTAIN AMOUNT OF TIME THEY WILL BE BACK ON THE STREETS. WHO IS TO BLAME?
