Five people hurt in Paterson shooting

Five people were wounded in a shooting in Paterson early Sunday morning, according to the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office.

The victims, 25, 17, 19, 30, and 19, were struck by gunfire on Madison and Essex streets at around 4:30 a.m.

Police found the 25-year-old victim, a resident of Haledon, when they responded to report of a shooting in the area. The other adult victims, all residents of Paterson, arrived at Saint Joseph’s University Medical Center seeking treatment for gunshot wounds.

Police did not reveal the residency of the juvenile victim.

Paterson has witnessed a spate of weekend shootings. Three people were shot, one fatally, on Saturday.

Authorities continue to investigate the incident. Anyone with information is asked to call the Paterson Police Ceasefire Unit at 973-321-1342.

    he would have to suspend the constitution, declare martial law, curfew and be like Rodrigo Duterte and carry out extra judicial killings, that is the only way . They did that in my country in the 1964 -85

    he's the leader, sorry, supposed to be the leader. He needs to order police dept to do their jobs from the top down. if the director, captains, luetenants, captains can't properly train their officers to do their job and protect the public, fire them immediately. To protect and serve applies to the high tax paying residents, not politics or to protect and serve crappy employees. There is 0 police organization in Paterson. Patrols? what's that? My area hasn't had patrols in years. So of course criminals flooding the once almost crime free area to turn it into the next 4th ward.
