Disgraced mayor Jose “Joey” Torres, who was sentenced to a five-year prison term last year, is eligible for release on Thursday.

Torres’ previous parole eligibility date was Feb. 2019. This date was moved up to Dec. 10 last week and now Nov. 29 following a late October parole hearing, according to NJ Department of Corrections records.

Torres pleaded guilty to official misconduct for renovating a private warehouse leased by his daughter and nephew using public works employees. He was sentenced to five years in prison by a Hudson County judge last November.

The former three-term mayor is barred from ever holding public office or employment as part of his plea agreement with the state.

Torres tried to secure early release through the special parole Intensive Supervision Program (ISP), but was rejected.

Torres is being held at the Central Reception and Assignment Facility in Trenton, according to the corrections website.

          • Dominick Perez

The current one won't get arrested as well because he has the full protection of the Democratic Party, which included the Passaic County Prosecutor, they Passaic County Chief Judge, the Governor, they AG all under the Party's control. They targeted Torres but they were doing worst. Seven of they were ordered to a Grand Jury including the current one but they Democratic Party allegedly called in the Passaic County judge to block it.
So, Torres was light-weight compared to what they were doing, he went down and they got protections. Paterson, the corruption will never end until the US Attorney starts arresting the top members of the Democratic Party and investigation they judges and prosecutor.
Torres has a lot of friends too and I hope he gets revenge for the stalking for his daughters and wife and what they did to him while they hid their crimes.

You got that right. The entire county is corrupt from top to bottom.
