Paterson ordinance will let mosques broadcast Muslim call to prayer

city-hall

A proposed ordinance before the City Council will allow mosques in Paterson to broadcast the Adhan or the Muslim call to prayer.

Under the ordinance, mosques will be allowed to use loudspeakers to announce the call to prayer during a 16-hour span. The ordinance states: “The city shall permit ‘Adhan’, call to prayer’, ‘church bells’ and other reasonable means of announcing religious meetings to be amplified between the hours of 6:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m. for duration not to exceed five minutes.”

Councilman Shahin Khalique proposed the ordinance on Tuesday night as an amendment to the existing noise control ordinance.

Council members spent three minutes discussing the measure.

Paterson has approximately 30,000 Muslims. It has a dozen mosques scattered throughout the city. Presently, mosques make the call to prayer five times a day; however, the sound is not amplified outside the buildings.

Late last year, Khalique, who is up for reelection in May, promised local leaders he planned to introduce the measure modeled on an ordinance in effect in Hamtramck, Mich. At the time, Khalique said he had been in discussions with other members of the City Council to get the measure passed.

Khalique has styled himself as a pious and devout Muslim amongst his mostly Bengali-American supporters. He suffered a blow to his image earlier in the month when it was revealed he had been arrested for intoxicated driving by New Jersey State Police in 2010.

Council members will consider the measure for preliminary approval next Tuesday.

Next will be Sharia enforcement patrols like they have in London. In certain areas if they see you with alcohol you get scolded, hold hands in public get slapped up, be a gay or a transtesticle and you get thrown off a roof.

Church bells tell you the time of day. The Call to Prayer tells you you will rot in hell if you don't submit to Allah. There's a difference.

  • Willy05

Church bells are occasional. Western and Eastern harmonies differ. To this Western ear, such sounds would be extremely irritating to many – exactly in the nature of noise pollution. Five times daily is more than an inconvenience. There's a better solution: Broadcast the call to prayer over a private network so it is received by subscribers on their cell phones or other devices.

It will start with their "prayer to call" and once that's become a norm in society, they'll add somthing else. This is why it has been called creeping sharia!

Church bells, which should probably be banned as well, tell you the time of day. The Muslim call to prayer tells all and everyone to submit and prostate themselves abjectly before Allah. It's intrusive and intolerant. No one would allow loudspeakers telling everyone to accept Jesus as their personal savior.

  • TheBigDG

I lived in Jerusalem for a few years. When I first got there- the late calls to worship woke me up – after a few weeks I did not even hear them. But that is in the Middle East. I am sensitive to the intrusion upon the peace be it overly loud music, raucous parties, early morning lawnmowers or calls to prayer. Keep your sounds to yourself!

Paterson is going downhill. This is what happens when you vote in a person with extremist religious views. This country thankfully was founded hearing church bells, not yelling.

Personally, I don't want to be subjected to an amplified moaning song 5 times a day, But I do not live near Paterson (Thank God).
The good news about Muslims: Paterson crime will probably go down.
The bad news: Paterson will become a re-combined mass of non assimilated Muslims much like Dearborn Michigan.
This will go much further than just the call to prayer issue.

Why would you need a call to prayer? I don't care what denomination of faith you are, you should know when to worship without bells and whistles, so to speak. Please don't allow it!

Islamic sharia. Note the call to prayer will be 5 times a day and much longer than any bells. Thus the 98% will be reminded every day of Islam's dominance. Pretty soon the population will become accustomed to the noise and tune it out but then the Muslims will begin asking for more. That is how the playbook goes. I can respect Islam as I would respect a bear. Islam has a 1400 year history of subsuming populations. The people of Peterson are being conquered and don't realize through their tolerance are inviting their destruction. Islam will bring nothing new or better to Peterson, quite the contrary.

Despite my distaste for Paterson and the majority of it's residents, I actually feel for the struggling black and hispanic population who won't be able to escape this. Things are about to change real quick.

For those who cry about "diversity" and "cultural enrichment", well, you're about to get it whether you like it or not.

  • Moronbasher

You live in the age of cellphones why do you need a "call to prayer"? This is simply imposing islamic superiority over the infidels! The adhaan states that there inso God but allah and the infidels have to hear this? This has been proposed by a muslim and this is all they want when they move to the West? Impose islamic superiority over the West. How do other religious groups report to prayer? Why is islam given so many special privileges? Gosh this angers me so much!

interesting how small hats and Muslims operate in the same way when taking over an area. Not surprising since Islam is based on Judaism. What should be noted is that the laws which prevent resistance to these deeply religious collectivists were instituted decades before as if preparing for the protection of such cancerous people. It's a 1400 year old pattern, one group opens the gates and the other serves as a proxy army and both have a common goal, the eradication of out-groups but especially European Christians. But there is another pattern that has played out over the 1400 years of genocidal collusion, the small hats are exposed as the malignant cancer they are to every society they insinuate themselves into because they will never turn against their proxy army no matter the cost to their in-group peons
