Man beaten in hospital by Paterson cops found dead in apparent suicide

Andrew-Casciano

A man viciously beaten by two police officers in an emergency room in 2018 was found dead in an apparent suicide in his Katz Avenue home last week, according to law enforcement sources.

Andrew Casciano, 31-year-old, died on Dec. 23, 2019. Police responded to the apartment on Katz Avenue at around 5:30 p.m. on report of a suicide by hanging.

Casciano came in contact with the two now-convicted police officers — Ruben McAusland and Roger Then – when he tried to commit suicide and police responded to the same apartment on Mar. 5, 2018.

An ambulance took Casciano to St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center. There both police officers attacked him. McAusland punched and brutally slapped Casciano in the emergency room. Then smiled and recorded the encounter. Then grabbed him by the back of the neck and pushed him to the ground. The attacks were captured on video.

McAusland received a five-year sentence and Then received a six-month sentence in federal prison. Casciano filed a lawsuit against the city of Paterson over the incident. The lawsuit is still pending in federal court.

    Very sad. He deserves peace.

He definitely killed himself, the multi million dollar lawsuit has absolutely nothing to do with his "suicide".

Paterson P.D. has a way of murdering people and saying it was a suicide.
or some other B.S. excuse. hopefully his lawsuit won't get thrown out because he's dead.
and the money goes to his family.
