paterson-police

Police officers cracked down on panhandlers and sex workers on Friday. 11 people were issued summonses for panhandling and 8 were handed summonses for loitering to commit prostitution, according to police director Jerry Speziale.

Speziale said police interviewed the alleged sex workers and panhandlers and steered them towards community organizations providing addiction recovery, shelter, and counseling services.

Those given summonses were told, if they continued being panhandlers and sex workers stronger measures would be deployed.

Police arrested those with active warrants and brought them before a municipal court judge.

Unfortunately, the decent citizens of Paterson want it cleaned up and are proud of our police force for getting those people off the streets.
