1 killed, 2 wounded in shooting outside Paterson housing towers

Presidential-Boulevard

A city man has been killed and two others wounded in a shooting outside the Riverview Towers on Presidential Boulevard early Thursday night, according to the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office.

Authorities identified the man killed as Xavier McCray, 25, of Paterson.

McCray and two other men – 38-year-old Santos Lantigua of Jersey City and 19-year-old Shadire Scott of Paterson – were found suffering from gunshot injuries outside of 125 Presidential Boulevard at around 7:01 p.m., authorities said.

Witnesses said it was a drive-by shooting and that almost two dozen rounds were fired at the location.

Police said the victims were rushed to St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center for treatment. Scott was treated and released. Lantigua is in stable condition at the hospital. However, McCray succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at 9:02 p.m., authorities said.

The investigation into the shooting is active and ongoing, authorities said. Anyone with information is asked to call the Paterson Police Detective Bureau at 973-321-1120.
