Sheltering Success
40 people were sheltered at International High School gymnasium last night during the intense winds and slosh, but a good number of them left in the morning as the storm ended. 4 Injured During Storm Near Marshall Street
4 were injured at an abandoned building site on Marshall Street; a vehicle halted at the stop sign near Van Winkle and Marshall Street yesterday afternoon was damaged by falling debris from an old dilapidated building; it happened as the wind gained strength during the afternoon hours.
Power Situation
We have met people with power; we have met people without power. It seems majority of Patersonians living along Totowa Avenue, Strait Street, Redwood Avenue, parts of Union Avenue, some sections of Broadway, 13th Avenue, Park Avenue, and countless other streets are without traffic lights as well as residential electricity.
Electricity Outages Hit Paterson
Families across Paterson have lost power — including your correspondent –; Public Electric Service & Gas (PSE&G) says well over 40 thousand have lost power in Passaic County. We have received outage information from about 30 Patersonians from various parts of the city.
Plenty of Room At the Shelter
The Red Cross operated storm shelter located at the International High School on Grand Street was empty when we visited with only one person who sought and found shelter at the place.
Update: Garbage Collection and Street Cleaning Cancelled
Early Monday morning residential garbage was picked up, but that will not be the case on Tuesday: the City will not pick up any garbage left near the curb until Thursday
